Its been announced that fashion brand and clothing store New Look has launched a New Look vegan collections range of clothes, shoes and bags which are completely free from any animal products.
There is over 500 products in the new releases for both men and women which has also been registered with the Vegan Society which marks their first ever high street collaboration and most definitely not the last!
A special page on their website has been setup just to launch the New Look vegan collections which you can find here. It talks its customers through a few points which many of them wouldn’t have know if they’re not vegan or heard of the movement before. They explain that not all shoes and bags are vegan, whilst it is very easy to assume that if its not made from leather its 100% vegan and leave it at that the truth is many products still have animal products especially shoes and bags!
PU Leather is a great alternative to leather however its not always vegan you have to be careful, some is unfortunately finished with a leather spray which is so that it can have the same texture as animal derived leather.
Another very overlooked issue is the adhesive or glue. Glue and tape can be made using collagen which is from a range of animals including fish, insects, mammals and their milk. New look also explain that their new product range contains no animal derived leather, leather spray, animals produce or traces.
Now you might be thinking metal is vegan right? You’d be right but you have to remember to look into the manufacturing process to make sure that it hasn’t had a non vegan product used on it like for example a anti-rusting spray or chemical treatment.
