If like me you can’t function without coffee then you’ll be so excited to hear that Nestlé kingpin of the coffee market has launched three new plant-based coffee’s which are certified by the vegan society.

Whilst the brand do have a long way to go in terms of using milk in almost EVERY product they sell they are taking baby steps in the right direction which is more than we can say for some brands! *cough* Avon *cough*.

A Nestlé dairy farm was exposed in April this year by Compassion Over Killing who published videos showing what they allegedly described as “senseless and violent abuse of mother cows and their defenseless calves”. The footage showed a mother cow who was under to stand (downed) having their legs chained together then dragged out of a barn by a tractor.

Other footage involved farmers spraying ‘downed cows’ in they eyes with extremely hot water in order to get them to move faster. After the footage was released Nestlé quickly cut all ties to Martin Farms.

Frothy coffee is not something I personally enjoy but I’m totally up for supporting a brand as well known as Nestlé releasing vegan versions of anything they do. The drive for more demand of vegan products from companies like Nestlé push them to increase their range into the plant-based market and therefore offer the veg-curios of us out there a chance to try a brand they are more familiar with and at the same time take a more conscious approach to the products they use in their lives.

The three new Nestlé latte plant-based coffees are going to be released under their ‘very fancy’ Nescafé Gold brand in three flavours; coconut latte, almond late and oat latte. Out of the three I think Oat late will be my favourite but let us know which you’re most excited for in the comments below!

All three packages will clearly state at the top that they are “NEW” and “A delicious alternative to dairy” which we’re so happy about, brands are finally telling their customers that non dairy alternatives are not only available but they tasty damn good too!

The packaging will also include The Vegan Society logo as they’re all certified vegan as well as nutritional information and you can get six mugs out of coffee out of one pack.

Nestlé latte plant-based coffees are all made using 100% Arabica coffee blends and are carefully crafted by the ‘Nestlé nerds’ as we’re branding them (in a good way) to create a texture and creamy taste almost as similar as a milk based latte.

They’re also a great source of calcium! I personally find it hard to get calcium as I am not a fan of cabbage and okra, my main source is broccoli but still I don’t want it every day however I love having a coffee everyday. It should be noted that I am not recommending people use this as a primary calcium source but it is a great excuse to have one for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

This announcement makes Nestlé latte plant-based coffees the world’s first plant-based soluble coffee mixes allowing them to step into a market uncontested but for how long we aren’t sure as I’m sure other brands will want to join the vegan coffee offerings.

Que Aaron’s plant-based latte company, I’m just kidding I’d drink it all before I could even sell any!

Now who’s for a coff.. I mean who’s for one of Nestlé latte plant-based coffees? I’ll put the kettle on
